Oklahoma City Chess Club Terms & Conditions

Refunds: A player can receive a refund if they cancel up to one hour before the tournament start time. Players who no-show do not receive a refund. No exceptions.

Running late?

Players who register after the posted cutoff time will be given a first-round bye in Swiss tournaments. No exceptions. For tournaments that require players to check in, those who are not checked in by the cutoff time will not be paired in round one. For quads, players who arrive after the registration cutoff/check-in time may not be able to participate in the event.

But there's a caveat!

If you are running late, just send a text to (405) 642-6136 before the cutoff time and we'll put you in.

No shows = not cool.

For tournaments that don't require players to check in, it's still very important that we know who's coming and who isn't. Nobody likes having to sit there doing nothing for an hour because their opponent couldn't be bothered to let us know they couldn't make it. If something comes up, just send us a text so we'll know not to pair you.

Playing up: Players can play up if their monthly US Chess rating is within 150 points of the next section. Live rating may also be considered. Play-up fee: $10

Equipment: Sets, clocks, scoresheets, and pencils are provided at all Oklahoma City Chess Club tournaments. For events held in the café, bring your own equipment if you can.

US Chess membership: A current US Chess membership is required for all rated tournaments. New US Chess members may purchase their membership through us and pay no entry fee for their first tournament.

About the venue: The chess club is located above Kamp's 1910 Café. Except on Sundays, when the café is closed, do not bring any outside food or drink into the building. Try something from their delicious menu instead.
